The Scottish Aero Club (S.A.C.) is the oldest flying club in Scotland and operates out of an ex-World War II training airfield. The club has an active membership of around 300; all enthusiastic pilots from every walk of life who enjoy whatever form of powered aviation takes their fancy.

In partnership with the airfield operator (Air Charter Scotland), the S.A.C. offers three axis training in a fleet of Group A aircraft and also in the club's new Eurostar microlight. There is also a very lively flexwing microlight community whose exploits are often captured on film and widely published on the internet.

For helicopter pilots and students we have Kingsfield Helicopters, a very successful training school that operates out of the clubrooms, and within the next 12-months we also hope to have our own flex-wing instructor and autogyro instructor on site. In short, there's something for everyone.

The Scottish Aero Club Flight Training School and Kingsfield Helicopters offer training from NPPL all the way through to ATPL licenses, including JAR-PPL, IMC, IR and night rating; FAA PPL(H), CPL(H),IR, and instructor training.

During the winter the club runs a programme of evening events. These are fun evenings that are attended by many members. Every month we have a guest speaker who will talk on almost anything to do with flying and once a year we have our Annual Dinner atwhich trophies are awarded to the bold and the hardy. At the end of the year we have a Christmas party and sometimes even a New Year BBQ! (For some of these events it is fortunate there is an inexpensive hotel on the airfield.)

During the summer the club committee arranges a series of fly-outs and it is common for at least one of these to be to foreign parts.

img_4672The airfield boasts three excellent runways --- two tarmac and one grass, which means there are very few times when the wind direction prevents flying. The clubrooms are spacious and comfortable with light snacks available, however within easy walking distance is a snack bar serving hot and wholesome food all day, and later in the afternoon a restaurant opens that serves food of an extremely high quality at affordable prices.

All in all, the warmth of the welcome given by the members and the facilities on site make Perth Airfield an ideal base for holiday flying. Why not pay us a visit?img_5135
